| Subscription income from members is vital to the welfare of the Biggar Music Club, for without it, it would be difficult to make the necessary planning decisions and contract commitments for each season which usually have to be made a whole year in advance.
At present, the membership fee of £40 provides free entry to all the concerts for the whole season, a cost of a little less than £6 per concert! This is amazingly good value when compared to what one would have to pay to enjoy live performances by the same artists or ensembles in Edinburgh or Glasgow (or even London's Wigmore Hall!) and without the cost and inconvenience of having to get there!
Being a member also gives you a voice - the right to have a say in which way the club is run, the introduction of new ideas and events, the selection of artists and the range of music to be performed for our audiences. This is really important in ensuring that Biggar Music continues to reflect the musical tastes of its public.
Of course, there is nothing exclusive about the Club's events which are open to all, and are even free to students and accompanied children. Each concert is advertised widely and our audiences are made up of a large proportion of concert-goers who simply pay at the box-office - this season, a modest £8 - still great value. There is usually an interval during which refreshments are available, and there is always a happy, social atmosphere.
So come and join us - you will find it's easy and well, well worth while!
