The Dominant Quartet is one of the most vibrant and talented young ensembles to have emerged from Russia in the last few years. It was founded in 1995, and 2001 the Quartet were winners of the International String Quartet Competition in Bordeaux. They have toured widely in Russia and overseas throughout Europe and Japan, appearing in numerous festivals. They are noted for the grandeur and variety of their tone colours, their dynamically rich and vivid performances and the clear sound of their perfect ensemble.
Megumi Fujita, the pianist of the Fujita Piano Trio, which was so greatly appreciated in Biggar two years ago, will join with the Dominant Quartet to perform two highlights from the piano quintet repertoire. Winner of numerous prizes in piano competitions, Megumi has performed concertos and recitals in prestigious venues throughout the whole world, as well as recording works by Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Rubinstein and Takemitsu.
